I love the Missourian's people-interest approach to news. It is what makes you different, usually.
What doesn't make you different and what I don't love are the letters to the editor that are actually political columns, such as Kenneth Vail's Obama's values, published Aug. 25, 2008. It should be titled a political opinion piece, which seem to be very one-sided these days.
Mr. Vail must either be using drugs, abusing alcohol or drinking too much Obama Kool-Aid if he actually believes Sen. Obama is for freedom, equality and human life. Big government restrictions, taxation, Chicago-style manipulative politics, race-baiting, standing against the smallest and weakest (a live-born abortion victim) in our society are nothing close to our traditional values. Those values have been established by our Founding Fathers and upheld by moral Americans in the past, but Obama's two books indicate his support of the opposite, "non-American" values.
Hopefully Obama's new, big "free" government will regulate Olympic shotgun users away from being allowed to use mind-influencing chemicals or political indoctrination while shooting. Or, better yet, change the sport to Political Hyperbole and Mr. Vail is sure to lead his team to a gold medal in London in 2012.
